About Me
For 12 years, as a high school administrator, I have wrestled with the daily demands of the job: seemingly endless deadlines, unceasing interruptions, and unlimited fires to put out. Often, the best planned days result in chaos. I felt overwhelmed and stressed. I often wondered how long I could maintain the pace and continue to be effective. The burden of leadership rested heavily on my shoulders as everyone looked to me for solutions to the latest problem, forgetting the last miracle I performed. I started to ask, “How do I continue to do this work without being burned out?”
I knew that I had to take charge and make some changes. I started researching, reading, and investigating a whole range of ideas, strategies, and processes to find the answer to my situation. After a lot of time, effort, and money, I worked out the right combination of tools, methods, systems, and procedures that started to have a positive impact in both my working and personal lives. I found new ways of thinking and communicating and developed habits that transformed my leadership and the school. I got more in touch with what I truly valued and what I truly wanted to accomplish as a school leader and as a human being.
Armed with this new knowledge, a new mindset, and new habits, my desire is to help other administrators find the same calm in the eye of the storm. I want schools to be excellent and equitable, but I know that they can’t get there unless their leaders, essential to any change that happens, are balanced, healthy, energized, and clear-thinking. This is my contribution to the important work schools do in transforming individuals and society. Transform the leaders, I realized, and the students, the teachers, the organization, and the world will inevitably be transformed.

Explore your regular discussions .
Discover a range of tools to use these self-negotiations to great effect.
We all have that little voice that keeps us from achieving what we want. It may be the perfectionist, the pleaser, or the avoider, among other voices inside us, and they can sabotage any goals we make. In this module, you will identify the specific negotiations that entangle you and learn how to anticipate, quieten, and transcend them, clearing the way to execute your plans and succeed.
Uncover how your voice of wisdom seeks to aid you with your goals.
Learn how to access your voice of wisdom any time to make the best decisions.
Strengthen your voice of wisdom.
As leaders, we can be pressured on all sides. It seems impossible to think clearly rather than react, sometimes inappropriately. In this module, you will learn how to access your voice of wisdom, in every situation, so you can make clear and powerful decisions, when it matters most.

Understand the power of a morning routine.
Own the first hour of your day.
Explore strategies to always have time to organize your day without disruption.
We have all been there… we hit the alarm button, hurriedly get ready, rush out the door, maybe drop off the children. At school, we are immediately bombarded. Sound familiar? In this module, you will learn how to avoid situations like this and win your mornings from the moment you wake up.
Discover the power of focus blocks.
Develop a plan to block out focused time to work on priority tasks.
Learn how to protect and maximize your focus blocks.
We all have the best intentions; our to-do list has all of our main priorities listed, but again there are crises, disruptions, fires to put out, and they stay on that list; to be tackled another day! In this module, we uncover how to avoid pushing things into another day, blocking time to get things done, and having days you control rather than ones that control you.
Understand the need for healthy boundaries to preserve your effectiveness.
Establish boundaries within the day.
Establish a routine for the end of the day.
We have not eaten all day–again, and it’s not only our stomach that is running on empty. We stay late, for one more thing. We miss dinner or another event with our partner or child–again. In this module, you will learn how to set and keep the boundaries you need to thrive, ensuring that all areas of your life get the attention they deserve.

Recruit one helper for each responsibility.
We can feel that we are doing too many things and none of them are getting done as well as we want them to be. This module will show you how to clarify the scope of your responsibilities, and recruit help for each responsibility, so you can build an effective team and achieve more together.
Demystify how to effectively delegate to accomplish your goals.
Learn how to set and clarify expectations .

We can all hold on to tasks far too long because we can be afraid to depend on others because they don't accomplish tasks the way we do. Having the time to train them can also feel a bit daunting. In this module, you will make help helpful, take the burden off you, and successfully distribute leadership.
Understand the need to implement a primary focus that is not attached to school.
Set and keep your personal primary focus .

In this module, you will master how to protect your time and energy and willingly commit to spending time with your loved ones, without being distracted by work.
Learn why counterbalancing your life is a better goal than balancing it.
Identify your evening responsibilities in which to achieve counterbalance.
Determine who, when, where and how for each responsibility.
We often feel guilty because someone or something seems to always be neglected. In this module, you will learn to give yourself enough grace and gain know-how to focus on your current Primary Focus and then counterbalance with the other things that may be put off momentarily.
Review takeaway habits and routines.
Plan how to ritualize them in the future.
Record them in calendars and/or checklists.
We have all been there before: we gained amazing skills but feared we would not retain them. In this module, you will learn how to memorialize and lock in your learnings with concrete plans of how you will use them in the future.
Identify and celebrate your wins.
